One of my favourite places to go to, especially during summer, is the iconic estate of Neethlingshof in Stellenbosch. It is a hive of activity and one can unwind in a perfect setting, eat some delicious food and drink some of winemaker De Wet Viljoen’s superb wines.

The Flash Food and Slow Wine Pairing Menu consists of five bite-sized snacks paired with five delicious wines; think Sauvignon Blanc with a salmon and trout roulade, the iconic Gewurztraminer with a beef kebab and a mini Malva pudding served with The Caracal. For the kids, there’s a mini chicken pancake and cheeseburger paired with grape juice as well as a chocolate sponge finger served with a chocolate milkshake.
The cost is R100 per adult for 5 courses and R50 per child for 3 courses. Bookings are advisable. If you are looking for the perfect mid-week break, ‘wine’ down, relax and recharge with Neethlingshof’s Live Music Wednesdays. One can enjoy folk, rock and more performed by popular acoustic musicians whilst sipping on a glass of the estate’s award-winning wines and indulging in a delicious selection of scrumptious food offerings.
Live Music Wednesdays start at 17h30 and end at 20h30 during the months of October through to March 2018.
The wine garden menu is available, including pizzas, wraps, cheese and charcuterie platters and other summer tapas. Entry is free but bookings are essential. To top it all there are great pizzas available like the Bobotie topping and the one with a Greek twist topped with fresh spinach, olives and feta.
Prices range from R35 for a focaccia to R125 for their delicious Biltong Pizza.
The pizza menu is available on weekdays between 11h00 and 16h00; Live Music Wednesdays from 17h30 to 20h30 and on weekends and public holidays between 11h00 and 15h00.
