Peace, Quiet and Great Food at Towerbosch

The Towerbosch Restaurant on the Knorhoek Wine farm in Stellenbosch is a perfect place to go when you want to spoil yourself—just a little—for all that time you have been giving to others.

Renowned for its fabulous Sunday Feast where you will find things like tarragon chicken and their famous aged roast sirloin and potatoes done in duck fat on the menu, if you want to avoid the crush and the family atmosphere that Sundays bring, try going during the week when things are definitely a whole lot calmer and you can luxuriate in the atmosphere that is particularly their’s. The menu is a la carte in the week and the superb Knorhoek wines at cellar prices are just the thing to accompany it. Sit outside if the weather is good.

Sit outside if the weather is good—not too cold and not too hot—just like Goldilocks likes it—and soak it all up. Try the excellent prawn risotto which some places in town think should have the prawns cooked in the risotto which results in them being soggy and mushy.

Towerbosch flash fry them with a touch of garlic and nestle them on a bed of creamy risotto—perfect! The rolled rare beef salad, with pickled peppers and just enough greens to make it healthy without smothering the deliciousness of it all, goes well with the crunchy bread they make there.

Finish up with the malva pudding spring rolls, unbelievably rich—of course! Bookings are essential—especially on the weekends—as they are a popular wedding venue and might be unable to host you.
