Robertson Hands On Harvest is the Place to Be

The four towns that make up the Robertson Wine Route –Ashton, McGregor, Bonnievale and of course Robertson itself, have so much to offer at any time of the year but in February they pull out all stops to make the harvest experience very special.

Accommodation is available all over the valley so staying over is no problem.

Wine enthusiasts  can experience the grape’s journey from vine to barrel with hands-on experiences like grape picking and stomping, cellar tours, wine tastings—of course!—and master classes in blending and creating one’s own wine—very special.

Leisurely boat cruises down the Breede River with glass in hand are great and there is live music all over the place. The whole thing is very family orientated and there all sorts of experiences to keep you on the hop.

The Family Market at Viljoensdrift on the Sunday is packed with things to tempt you.  As far as food is concerned, there are winemakers’ dinners and riverside platters to lift flagging taste buds as well as picnic baskets with local olives, fresh country breads, handmade artisan charcuterie and preserves.

Hearty country fare is the order of the day and one thing is for sure—you will not go hungry. For those who like action with their leisure there are activities like sky diving, 4×4 routes, golf, rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, horse rides, and game drives.

You will not be bored!
