Plogging is just like jogging, but instead of just running, you pick up any litter you see along the way. So it’s a combo of jogging and picking up stuff, which gives you plogging.
It seems the Scandinavians started this trend late last year, but since we don’t understand the language, we’ve had to rely on what happens in the video. From what we can see, you run around picking up litter, which you can then also incorporate into your workout. Instead of lifting weights, you lift bags of litter. Once you’re finished, you chuck said bag in the bin.
According to various online reports, plogging is more rewarding than the average job and not just because of the added feel-good factor.
Bending over to pick up litter is good for core strength, while the added weight is good for the arms. You don’t need any special equipment for plogging, apart from a bag to put litter in. Just your regular running gear and perhaps some gloves if you don’t want to touch any nasty litter.
This new trend was picked up quickly by other countries, with both France and Thailand now having dedicated plogging groups.
