It seems that the snow for the 2019 winter season has arrived in South Africa.

There was a bit of snow in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces earlier this week following an intense cold front that made landfall on Tuesday. The South African Weather Service said we should expect disruptive snowfall, strong to gale force winds and heavy rain leading to flooding in the Western Cape.

The snowfall turned parts of the country into a Winter Wonderland and we scoured the internet to find some of our favourite weather updates from social media.

Snow-capped Mountains

The Outeniqua Mountains enjoyed a fresh dusting of snow.

While the Swartberg Mountains got a bit of the same treatment.

The Eastern Free State woke up to this beautiful scene over the weekend.

We couldn’t resist including these images from Henry Adams Tornado of the frost that formed in Willowmore.

Queenstown are feeling the cold this morning.
