Rosa King, a zoo keeper at Hamerton Zoo Park in Cambridgeshire, was killed by a tiger on Monday morning, 29 May 2017.
The incident occurred at around 11.15am, but the exact details are not clear at this stage. The official word is that the tiger somehow got into the enclosure with the zoo keeper.
Visitors were alerted to the situation after hearing screams and witnessing other zoo keepers running towards the tiger enclosure. Witnesses also report seeing some of King’s colleagues seemingly trying to lure the tiger away with pieces of meat.
According to the zoo, all four tigers in the zoo are accounted for and they pose no risk to people in the area.
At the moment the tiger’s future is not clear, but a social media campaign in the UK is calling for it not to be harmed in any way.
