Location of flowers: Alongside the N7 On the N7 next to Trawal Wynkelder and Kransburg On the N7 from Trawal Truck Inn to the bridge, on the gravel road between Vredendal and Klawer

Type of flowers: Yellow and white daisies, pink vygies

Strandfontein & Doringbaai

Location of flowers: R362 on the road from Lutzville to Strandfontein and Doringbaai.

Type of flowers: White and orange daisies

Vanrhynsdorp & Hardeveld

Location of flowers: On the R27 in between Vredendal and Vanrhynsdorp On the R27 (along the Kobee road) Lankverwacht Plaas N7 in between Klawer and Vanrhysndorp Lepelsfontein Brand se Baai Molsvlei Nuwerus area

Type of flowers: White, yellow and orange daisies, oxalis (suring), golden spurge (geel melkbos), vygies (including cigarette vygies), wild rosemary, hongerblomme

Vredendal & Lutzville

Location of flowers: R362 on the road from Lutzville to Strandfontein and Doringbaai R362 from Vredendal to Lutzville R362 in Vredendal area.

Type of flowers: White and orange daisies

St Helena Bay

Location of flowers: Brittanica Heights

Type of flowers: Bietou daisies and kapokbossies (Eriocephalus africanus) – in patches


Darling Still very early especially after this dry early winter. If there are some warm days the flowers will come quickly.

Location of flowers: Darling Renosterveld Reserve (Access at top of village behind the Darling Primary School or lower down gate in Langfontein street); also on the plot just below this reserve on Petunia Street !Khwa ttu San Cultural & Education Centre

Type of flowers: Renosterveld – Gladiolus gracilis, yellow Moraea galaxia (horlosieblom), early yellow spiloxene (sterretjies), pink and white oxalis, lampranthus (vygie), arums and struthiola. !Khwa ttu – sandlelie (veltheimia) and rooipypie (gladiolus priorii)

Wildflower Meander  Flora Group walks take place in the Reserves in and around Darling/Yzerfontein during season. Weather permitting and to be confirmed.  Explore the reserves for whatever is flowering that day, also to find anything new, and to discuss anything botanical as we go along. Groote Post Vineyards Nature walk is open daily.  Visitors can sign in at the tasting room where they will be given a map of the route. Also do the farm (flower) drives. 022 492 2825
