The country’s top restaurant accolades, the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Awards, took place at a Sunday lunch to end all lunches at GrandWest Cape Town on Sunday the 15th November 2015.

These prestigious awards are much vied for by every restaurant worth its salt and the event is always eagerly awaited by everybody who loves good food.
For a fourth unprecedented year THE TEST KITCHEN in Woodstock won the Restaurant of the Year while LA COLOMBE’S Scot Kirton walked away with the San Pellegrino Chef of the Year Award. Uber Chef Luke Dale Robert’s other restaurant THE POT LUCK CLUB, also in Woodstock, was featured as one of the Top Ten places to eat in the country. No other awards hold the cachet these do.

The LANNICE SNYMAN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD was given to the late LIZ MCGRATH, whose famous hotels set the benchmark for gracious hospitality for all who visited them.
The judges who worked with Editor and Chief Judge Abigail Donnelly were Jackie Cameron, Benny Masekwameng and Siba Mtongana.
Almost a clean sweep for the Cape, although the awards are country wide, means a good time can be had by all at the province’s superb, world class restaurants. All you need is some money, some time, and the will to let yourself be indulged.
