2 New SUVs You Should Know About

Haval H2

Haval is Chinese manufacturer GWM’s luxury arm and it recently made its debut in South Africa by launching the H2.

The H2 is powered by a 105kW/202Nm turbocharged 1.5l petrol engine, which can be mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The H2 is generously equipped and the quality is on par with other cars in the segment. The days of atrocious Chinese interiors are long gone and this is probably the best one we’ve seen so far.

It’s also reasonably priced and comes standard with a five-year/100 000km warranty and a five-year/60 000km service plan.

Pricing:

H2 1.5T City 6M/T                R244900

H2 1.5T City 6A/T                 R279900

H2 1.5T Premium 6M/T      R254900

H2 1.5TH Premium 6A/T       R289900

H2 1.5T Luxury 6M/T          R274900

Hyundai Tucson Sport

Even though it’s currently SA’s top-selling mid-size SUV, Hyundai decided to bolster its Tucson range with the addition of a sportier model.

It’s called the Sport and its power figures are rated at 150kW/295Nm or torque. The list of standard features now also includes electric leather seats, satellite navigation and the coolest alloy wheels we’ve ever seen on an SUV.

It retails for R500 000, which isn’t bad considering the added performance and luxuries included over and above the standard R450 000 model.
