Toyota Launches Hilux Black Edition

South Africa’s favourite bakkie, the Toyota Hilux, is now available in special edition ‘Black’ guise.

This special edition is limited to the top-of-the-line 2.8 GD-6 double-cab range and is available in three colours- Glacier White, Chromium Silver and Graphite Grey.

The ‘Black’ in its name stems from a number of designer touches meant to elevate it above its lesser stable mates.

At a glance, this new special edition comes with the following:

Exterior Detailing

Gloss Black front grille

Gloss Black front bumper insert

Colour-coded over-fenders

Colour-coded door handles

Colour-coded mirrors

18” dual, tri-spoke alloy wheels

Gloss Black roof

Value-adding Accessories

Black rear styling bar

Black tonneau cover

Interior Touches

Black leather interior with silver stitching

Power-adjustable driver’s seat

Carbon fibre panel accents

While there’s a hint of ‘retro’ thanks to the distinctive anthracite roof and jet black accents, the cabin treatment and techno features are bang up-to-date. The contrast-stitched black leather interior and carbon fibre panels add premium flair to the cabin.

Some of the standard fare that appears on the Raider menu include full-colour touch screen with reverse camera, 4,2” TFT multi-information display screen, Bluetooth, cruise control, automatic climate control, steering wheel controls, electronic 4×4 switchgear (4×4 models), Hill Assist and Downhill Assist Control (the latter is on 4×4 models only), iMT (manual versions), autolights and a full suite of safety kit ranging from seven airbags to VSC and A-TRAC (4×4 models only), to name just a few of the highlights.

Hilux Raider Black 2.8 GD-6 4×4 6MT R585 300

As with other Hilux models, the Hilux Raider Black comes with a 3-year/100 000km warranty and a 5-year/90 000km service plan. The best news is that there’s a very small premium (approx. R27 000) to pay over the regular models, for a lot more spec – making the Hilux Raider Black an excellent value proposition.
