PODCAST: Marita van der Vyver chats about her novel

Marita van der Vyver’s new novel Borderline is an examination of the psychological effects of war, particularly the South African border war with Angola. In the novel, a 50-something-year-old woman is picking through her deceased husband’s memoirs and journals when she happens upon an unsent letter with a Cuban address, and on the spur of the moment chooses to book a ticket to Havana to follow up the clue.

As the story progresses the reader is offered a stark insight into the ravages of war, and into the way these scenarios can affect those left behind while their loved one is off fighting.

In this podcast, Nancy Richards gets up close with the author to discuss Borderline and the research, and effort that went into crafting such a gripping novel.
