Every South Africa is aware of the rhino poaching problem.
The annual figure actually went down last year, but the situation remains dire. From January to August, 458 rhinos were poached in the Kruger Park alone.
It seems the poaching problem isn’t limited to Africa either, as a young white rhino was recently killed for its horn at the Thoiry Zoological Park, just outside of Paris, France.
The rhino in question was called Vince, and he was 4 years old at the time of his death. Poachers snuck into the zoo early in the morning and killed him with 3 shots to the head, after which his main horn was removed using a chainsaw.
The second horn was not removed, while the 2 other rhinos in the zoo were left unharmed.
An investigation has been launched, but no arrests have been made yet.
