The South African passport has dropped down the rankings on the Henley Passport Index and now sits at 53rd in the world with visa-free access to just 102 countries.

Although it remains the 3rd most powerful passport on the continent, it is far surpassed by the Seychelles in 24th position with visa-free access to 144 countries and Mauritius in 32nd place with access to 134 countries.
