September is Tourism Month, and there’s a lot happening.
From free access to some of your favourite parks to discounted deals, here are some of our favourite specials to take advantage of this month. It’s like local travel’s very own Black Friday.
SA National Parks Week 2019
For one week during Tourism Month, SANParks has dropped the access fee for most of its parks from 8 to 15 September. So whether you’re planning a trip to see the wildlife of Addo Elephant National Park or wanting to admire the flora and fauna of the West Coast National Park, you’ll be able to pop in for free. There are themed days throughout the week with an Adventure Monday, Travel Tuesday and Go Wild Wednesday thrown into the mix. Visit SANParks’ website for the full programme.
This free access week, however, excludes the Namaqua National Park, and the Boulders Penguin Colony and Table Mountain Cableway in the Table Mountain National Park.
Want to spend the night? SANParks are also offering visitors up to 40% off their accommodation from 8 to 12 September. This offer includes the likes of Matyholweni Rest Camp in Addo Elephant National Park and Mosu Lodge in the Mokala National Park at 20% off as well as Limpopo Forest Tented Camp in the Mapungubwe National Park at up to 40% off. Visit SANParks’ website for the full list of accommodation specials during SA National Parks Week.
CapeNature Access Week
CapeNature will also be granting free access to its reserves to day visitors from 23 to 29 September – perfectly timed for Heritage Day on 24 September. The team at CapeNature has a number of reserves under their care from De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Overberg to the Cederberg Wilderness Area. So whether you’re keen to hike a trail, go mountain biking or want to enjoy a picnic in the sun, there’s a CapeNature reserve that’ll suit every adventurer’s need.
